Job Summary

As the Manager of New Product Identification, you will play a pivotal role in identifying key therapy areas, products, complex generics, and First-to-File (FTF) opportunities for the US and OAM markets. Your role will involve tracking low-competition Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) opportunities, preparing business cases for identified products, and presenting them to senior management for pipeline inclusion.

You will collaborate with multiple internal teams such as R&D, Regulatory Affairs (RA), Clinical, API team, Intellectual Property (IP), and Marketing to gather relevant information. The goal is to ensure sustained revenue growth and help the company achieve its business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product & Opportunity Identification: Lead the identification of key therapy areas, complex generics, and sole FTF opportunities for the US and OAM markets. You will track ongoing industry trends, such as First-to-File opportunities, citizen petitions, new approvals, and novel NDA developments.
  • Strategic Product Pipeline Development: Identify and track products from the current US & EU pipeline for dosage extensions and alternate dosage forms. Work on potential in-licensing products when in-house manufacturing is not feasible. Collaborate across teams to create and maintain business cases while prioritizing projects.
  • Market & Industry Research: Stay up-to-date with industry news, investor presentations, and data from sources like IMS. Regularly appraise the relevant teams about developments in the market that could impact the company’s growth and revenue potential.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical teams, and other departments to develop comprehensive product strategies. Gather data on cost of development, capex, and align projects with business goals.
  • Presentation to Senior Management: Present shortlisted products and opportunities to senior management with thorough analysis and recommendations for adding them to the company’s pipeline.

Travel Requirement

  • Up to 20% travel may be required, predominantly for business meetings and strategic presentations.

Internal and External Interactions

  • Internal Interactions: Primarily with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, IP, Marketing, and Senior Management within Sun Pharmaceuticals.
  • External Interactions: Rarely required; focused mainly on internal teams.

Geographical Scope

  • Markets:
    United States (US) & Other Advanced Markets (OAM)

Financial Accountability

  • While this role has no direct financial authority, it significantly influences business growth and product development budgets through product identification and pipeline prioritization.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • B.Pharm / M.Pharm + MBA
    Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, regulations, drug development processes, and business acumen is essential.

Certifications

  • Relevant pharmaceutical or business certifications will be beneficial but are not mandatory.

Experience

  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or pharma consulting industry.
  • Extensive exposure to drug development, compliance management, process excellence, and strategic orientation is essential.
  • Experience collaborating across teams to execute business plans successfully.
