Role Overview
The Research Fellow in the CMC (Analytical) department will contribute to the analytical research and development activities within Ferring Pharmaceuticals. The primary focus will be on method development, validation, and optimization of analytical techniques used to analyze pharmaceutical products, raw materials, and intermediates. This fellowship offers freshers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical R&D environment, supporting drug development projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Method Development & Validation
- Assist in the development and validation of analytical methods such as:
- HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography)
- GC (Gas Chromatography)
- FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy)
- NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance)
- UV-Vis (Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy)
- Dissolution Testing
- Support the optimization of analytical procedures to ensure precision, accuracy, and robustness.
2. Sample Preparation & Analysis
- Perform sample preparation techniques, including:
- Dissolution
- Dilution
- Extraction
- Filtration
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of pharmaceutical samples such as APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients), excipients, and finished dosage forms.
- Ensure accurate data collection, processing, and reporting.
3. Documentation & Compliance
- Document experimental procedures, observations, and results according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Maintain detailed records in laboratory notebooks and prepare reports for senior scientists.
- Ensure compliance with company protocols and regulatory guidelines like FDA, ICH, and USP.
4. Data Interpretation & Reporting
- Assist in interpreting analytical data and troubleshooting methods.
- Present findings and recommendations during team meetings.
- Prepare technical reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and analytical test methods.
5. Lab Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols for handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with departments like Formulation Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance to support drug development programs.
- Participate in project discussions and contribute to problem-solving initiatives.
Qualifications
- Completed or awaiting final results for a Master’s in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, and spectroscopy is preferred.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines from organizations like the FDA and ICH is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
